Tom, Thank you for your reply. I bought a used DX8 to fly the E-Flight Tinder X I bought from Horizon Hobby . I found out after I received it ........Its a Gen 1. Jeff Nelson is sending me a Gen 1 receiver which I should be able to replace in the Cub.

I'm a beginner at RC flying and need a little advice

I have both a Horizon Hobby Carbon Cub S2 and a E-flite Timber X.

The Timber was on sale so I bought it........ realizing I have a lot to learn with the Cub before I even think of assembling it.

The Transmitter the came with the Cub is a DXs.

You have a couple of options currently. NX8 and DX8e are both currently available from Spektrum. The biggest difference is that the NX8 comes with the rechargeable battery. The DX8e will require AA batteries. I suggest the NX8 for the extra money you will be getting one of the latest radios and ...

I too, would recommend the NX8. In addition to the rechargeable battery, it also has programmable voice alerts that can be assigned to switches. Makes life much easier.

Hello All,
I just started flying models again and need a little advice.
My wife bought me a Hobby Horizon Carbon Cub S2 that came with a little battery charger.
When I try to charge the battery the charger lights up white...then changes to red.
Do I need to buy a new battery charger or can this one ...

It's been my experience with chargers that if it doesn't work right - avoid it like the plague. Safety first always. I have the HiTec Black Edition and it's done great for me for several years.

If you're using an S120 charger it won't charge a Smart G2 battery but will charge regular batteries. If you plan on using Smart batteries, get a Smart charger.
